NEEM – ONE OF THE MIRACLE TREES IN NATURE

Introduction:

Neem tree (Azadirachta Indica) is properly known as Margosa (in Sanskrit) and vernacularly as Miracle tree. This Tree is normally found everywhere in India, for the purification of air. Billions of trees exist all over India. If the seeds fallen on the ground are collected, and oil is extracted at village level workers, thousands of tons of oil will be available for Lighting the Lamps in rural area. It is the best oil for lighting. Since these are spread over a large area, collection of seeds for Biodiesel manufacture is not viable.

Home remedies with Neem :

Fresh Paste Made from Neem leaves works best for Skin diseases like Leucoderma (white patches on skin) , ringworm, dermatitis, skin itching, rashes and other problems, if applied externally to the body. In metropolitan cities, it is difficult to get fresh Neem leaves. In such cases Neem oil and Neem capsules available in the market are the only alternatives instead of Neem paste.  Neem paste applied with toothbrush to the teeth daily in the morning fights against all kinds of dental problems and works much better than common toothpaste.

Diabetes

Scientific studies show Neem leaf and certain extracts of the leaf and seed oil is effective in reducing insulin requirements.  Based on the many studies of Neem’s effect on diabetes, the Indian government approved neem-based tablets for sale by a pharmaceutical company as a treatment for diabetes.  To prepare a remedy for diabetes take 10 leaves of Basil, 10 Neem leaves and 10 belpatra leaves. Now have all these leaves with a glass of water as a first thing in the morning.

Agricultural uses:

It is in agriculture where most of the research for exploring the benefits of Neem for crop production has been done. Neem oil, Neem cake, leaves and other parts of Neem tree are being used quite extensively in the agriculture sector in different parts of world. Being an insecticide, its main uses include as soil amendment, fertilizer efficiency enhancer, very effective foliar pesticide and also in food storage.
